the dark force

After years of seeing bass guys during my runs along the river, I finally picked up a bass rod and a handful of plastic baits.

I don't know how much I'll be posting about my life getting down and dirty with funky bass in mucky water, but I have to say that bass fishing is pretty fun. At the very least, it is a good way to spend some time outside. Takes care of the itch.

First bass. Treble hooks.. lord forgive me.

been too long

Quick updates from the last few months..

1. Returned to Hokkaido for an ill-advised last minute trip in the late fall. I thought it would be a great way to take a break from the craziness at work, but I ended up being anxious the entire time I was away from the office. Lesson learned: fishing is not a privilege; I have to put in time at the office to make time on the water.

2. Visited New Zealand in February for the first time. Plan on making biannual trips there for the next few years. In addition to learning a lot about fly fishing, I had some time to think about the important things in my life. More coming soon..

3. Will be coming back to biking (road and mountain biking). So many awesome trails and roads in New Zealand. I am itching to get back on two wheels.
